Police Commission Boss, Okiro Announces Mass Promotion Of Officers

Chairman of Police Service Police Commission (PSC) and retired Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, has disclosed that in three months, there would be mass promotion of senior police officers who have been stagnated on one rank.

He disclosed this when he feature on a programme on WFM 91.7 radio station in Lagos.

Okiro said his Commission and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, “are working out a structure in the police to create vacancies for officers who are due for promotion but have not be promoted due to lack of vacancies for them.

“I feel for them, because it is not because they have bad records but because there are no vacancies. You cannot promote an officer to a higher rank and there is no office for his or her new rank”.

Sequel to the renewed vigour and enthusiasm for effective Service delivery by the Nigeria Customs Service, the Tincan Island Command intercepted a total of four hundred and forty (440) pieces of assorted Pump Action Riffles.

Speaking with Journalists at the Enforcement section of the Unit, the Customs Area Controller, BASHAR YUSUF who introduced the subject to the media, stated that  the seizure was effected through intelligence which necessitated the segregation of the 1 x 20ft container to the Enforcement Unit for physical examination.

The lanky showbiz promoter continues to wane in the general cell of Ikoyi prisons where he has taken residence. Family and friends of Egbegbe have not been able to secure his bail.

According to a source close to Egbegbe, friends and benefactors have abandoned him, leaving him to bear his cross alone;
“Now, the frequency of people visiting him in the prison has reduced drastically. All his friends and followers have deserted him. 

Bill For 30-Year-Olds To Rule Nigeria Passes 2nd Reading

  The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, gave indications on Wednesday that Nigerians of 30 years of age would soon be eligible to be President of the country.

He explained that the provision was contained in a new bill seeking to lower the age qualification for persons vying for political offices in Nigeria.

Popularly tagged the “Not Too Young To Run Bill”, Dogara said it had passed second reading and referred to the Special Ad Hoc Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.

Dogara spoke in Abuja when he addressed the plenary of the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
