People in Netherlands can now pay for driving lessons with sex

 Yes, you read that The world is going crazy! Officials in Netherlands say driving instructors can now be paid in kind instead of cash, but there's a catch. The proposition must be made by the instructor and not the student.

Gov. Ambode launches Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem

 Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode spoke at the Lagos House, Marina yesterday while launching the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Appeal about how we should recognize the efforts of the Nihgerian armed forces.
He talked about the need for all citizens to appreciate the fallen heroes through donations for the welfare and upkeep of the families they left behind, especially their widows and children.
The Governor said that the appreciation was necessary especially at this period that the nation is faced with the challenges of terrorism and insurgency in certain parts of the country.

Dasuki to spend Christmas in Kuje prison

Former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki will be spending the Christmas holiday in Kuje prison following his inability to meet the N250 million bail conditions for two separate trials he is facing. Dasuki is standing trial for 32-count charge of money laundering and a 19 count charge of N9.6 billion fraud. Two Federal high courts granted him N250 million bail in two separate applications last week.

Army Has Met December Deadline Of Defeating Boko Haram – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

Kaduna Refinery Begins Daily Supply Of 3.2 Million Litres Of Petrol

A statement by the NNPC confirmed that the plant which commenced production over the weekend with an initial PMS yield of about 1.5 million litres has ramped up its daily yield to 3.2 million litres.

“The injection of this volume into the system will significantly impact ongoing special intervention efforts designed to bring relief to motorists across the country,” the Corporation stated.

NLC Rejects Electricity Tariff Hike

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) wednesday rejected vehemently the increase of electricity tariffs announced this week by the Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC).
At the meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the NLC held at the Paschal Bafyau Labour House, it said after exhaustive deliberations, the union “noted the discordant tunes coming out from different quarters, including government on fuel subsidy removal and pump price increase”.NLC further noted that in other countries, products prices are falling as a result of the continuing crash in the price of crude oil in the International market. Nigeria Boko Haram: Militants 'close to defeat' - Buhari

The Nigerian military is close to completely defeating Islamist Boko Haram militants, President Muhammadu Buhari has told the BBC.

He said the militants could no longer mount conventional attacks against security forces or population centres.

"I think, technically, we have won the war," he said.

Mass Resignation Of Workers Hits PDP

About 30 members of staff of the Peoples Democratic Party have resigned their appointment with the main opposition party, investigations by The PUNCH have revealed.

There are about 120 establishment employees in the service of the party.

The gale of resignation, which was said to have started in the Administrative Department of the party a few days ago, has also moved to other departments, including the Publicity Department.

Many directors were said to have turned in their letters of resignation.

Our correspondent gathered that the employees of the once-rich party had yet to come to terms with the cutting of their salaries by the party’s National Working Committee since August.

AS members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) jubilated last week over the news of the release of their leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Federal Government has slammed a fresh charge of treasonable felony on the Radio Biafra Founder, who had been detained since three months ago.

The Federal Govern- ment had gone to a Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday to prefer six charges against Kanu, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

Reps may summon Okonjo-Iweala over N1.17bn grant

The House of Representatives is seeking detailed information on how the N1.17bn approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority was reversed by a ministerial directive last May.
It was learnt that the House may summon the immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, for allegedly reversing Jonathan’s approval in controversial circumstances, thereby denying the agency of the funds.
The PUNCH learnt on Sunday that an ad hoc committee of the House chaired by a Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker from Delta State, Evelyn Oboro, was interested in knowing how a ministerial directive could override a presidential approval and what the money was used for after it was stopped.

Kaduna Refinery Restarts Production

Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, which has the capacity to refine 110,000 barrels of crude oil a day, restartedproduction on Saturday after it was closed for months for repairs.

The managing director, Pipelines and Products marketing Company, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, said on Sunday that the plant, which was closed in September, came back on stream ahead of the December deadline for Nigeria’s four refineries to return to full production.

The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, had issued a 90-day ultimatum to the managements of the fourrefineries shortly after his appointment last August.

Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue said the Kaduna plant,which is currently undergoing a test run of its production lines, is expected to commence trucking of petrol by the end ofnext week.

Senate Summons COAS Buratai Over Shiite Muslim Killings In Zaria

The Nigerian Senate and House of Reps have summoned Chief of Army Staff, Mr. Tukur Buratai over a clash with Shiite Muslims in Zaria which led to the death of over 60 people.

The Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawan Daura, and “heads of other security agencies,” would be summoned by a House joint Committee on Army/National Security/Intelligence and Public Safety.

Also to appear before the House are the top leaders of the Islamic Movement, “as well as other stakeholders as the House may deem fit to discuss the issue.”

CENTRAL Bank of Nige­ria (CBN) Governor, God­win Emefeile said at the weekend that the apex bank is evolving additional mea­sures to boost the economy and stabilise the naira.

Arase Dismisses 50 Policemen For Corruption

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase has said the police under his leadership has fought corruption to the barest minimum, stating that the force has dismissed 50 police officers for corrupt practices and misconduct.

He stated that 56 others were sanctioned for various offences between May and November, 2015.

Arase, who stated this during the end of the year IG Conference at the Force Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday, explained that as part of efforts in ensuring peace in the North-East, 3000 personnel were deployed in the liberated areas.
