Ghanaian-owned telecoms, Surfline recently announced the introduction of their 4G LTE offering, making them the first ever 4G LTE network in Ghana. The 300-cell strong network looks to serve both existing and new operators in the country.
Surfline began beta testing its network in Ghana earlier in June, 2014 ahead of this commercial launch. They had before then commisioned Alcatel-Lucent to set-up and deploy its mobile broadband product capabilities that included LTE Radio Access Network, Evolved Packet Core and Professional services to install, optimize, maintain and manage the LTE network.
At its initialscale of launch, Surflinesnationwide expansion makes it the largest single LTE deployment in Africa to date.
