Okeremute Iruvwe aka De Don, a popular comedian and OAP, has donated one of his kidneys to save his brother’s life. The Delta State-born comedian who is currently recuperating in a hospital in India gave out a kidney in order to save the life of his brother who urgently needed a transplant to survive. De Don’s brother, Morris Iruvwe had initially undergone a kidney transplant in 2009 and now required another due to the collapse of the new kidney.

"Morris’ first kidney in 2009 was donated by one of his sisters. Since the operation, he has had to travel to India every now and then for check up until 2012, when he could no longer do so due to financial constraints. This year, the kidney finally packed up, which now required another transplant and De Don was the only sibling willing to donate his," a source told Nigerian Entertainment Today.
Renal failure has become prevalent amongst Nigerians, with singer/producer, OJB Jezreel and actors Ifeanyi Dikeh and Ngozi Nwosu being the latest celebrity patients.

De Don, an Economics graduate of the Lagos State University has been a toast in the comedy industry, featuring in most of the top comedy shows in the country. He now hosts his own show, ‘Comedy happy Hour with De-Don’ on Rainbow 94.1FM.

It time for the health ministry to sensitive Nigerians about RENAL FAILURE and also put machinery in place to diagnose and treat it locally! What do you think?

Ghanaian Bishop slams Desmond Tutu over gay comment

The Anglican Archbishop of the Ashanti Region, Archbishop Yinkah Sarfo, has strongly condemned retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu over his comments that he preferred hell to an ‘anti-gay’ heaven.

"Archbishop Tutu is respected in the Anglican Church and around the world but this time he has misfired and all Anglican Bishops from Africa, Asia and South America condemn his statement in no uncertain terms," he told Adom News.

The retired South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu joined the ranks of gay rights supporters when he spoke at a United Nations’ Gay Rights Campaign function in Cape Town, South Africa last week.

Archbishop Tutu stated that he would not worship a God who is homophobic, adding that “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven… I mean, I would much rather go to the other place [hell].” Tutu said.

Tutu likened gay rights to the civil rights battle for blacks and apartheid, saying “I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid, for me, it is at the same level.”

Sambo: Nigerians Will Soon Produce An Aircraft

The quest by Nigeria to have an aircraft made by Nigerians will soon be realised if the effort of the federal government is anything to go by.

This was disclosed by the office of the Vice President, Nnamadi Sambo, while inaugurating the new boards of the National Agency for Science and Engeenering Infrastructure (NASEI) as well as the governing board of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in his office.

This is the first time the board of NASEI is being chaired by a democratically elected president. It has remained in limbo after its establishment in 1992.

The Nigerian government gave them a new charge to deliver new ideas and technology in line with the transformation agenda

Turning to the governing board of the ICRC, the federal government told them to “deliver expeditiously on many Public Private Partnerships (PPP) projects scattered across the country”.

Obasanjo Frms opens in Liberia

Obasanjo Farms’ tentacles have been extended beyond the shores of Nigeria as a new farm was officially opened today at Gbah Foboi, Grand Cape Mount County, in Liberia.
Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has expanded his farming business into Liberia with the new 125 acre farm.
Dedicating the the new farm, Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, Dr Florence Chenoweth, said that the farm would create about 30,000 job opportunities for the citizens.
She noted that the Liberian government has focused on the agriculture sector in its efforts to create jobs for the people.
Chenoweth urged legislators, chiefs and superintendents from Cape Mount County to advise youths in the area to seize the opportunities presented by the new farm to become productive, while ensuring the area’s development.
She stressed that the establishment of Obasanjo Farms would help in addressing one the salient aspects of the government’s efforts to ensure food security.
She noted that more than 40 per cent of Liberian children had stunted growth, stressing the need to solve the problem by fast-tracking the production of eggs and poultry in Liberia.
“We need to produce proteins either in beans or meat, which the cattle, goat and piggery produce, in Liberia, so as to ensure balance diets for our people’s nutrition,” she said.
Speaking earlier, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf described Obasanjo as a visionary leader who was responsive to the needs of the people in critical areas.
She commended Obasanjo for his constant support for Liberia and for having faith in the future of the country.
The Group Managing Director of Obasanjo Holdings Limited, Mr Daniel Atsu, said the farm was set up in anticipation of the adverse effects of global warming and climate change on poultry production in tropical Africa.
According to him, the farm had six standard poultry houses, adding that two of them were for breeding young chicks, while the remaining four were equipped with three-tier automated layer cages.
He said that the first and second batches of about 10,000 layers had started laying eggs.
The layer houses, according to him, would soon be increased to 16, a capacity which would produce about 15,000 farm fresh eggs daily.

If it was at a point when I was ill, perhaps, I won’t be surprised. But I’m very much okay now –that’s why I’m wondering where the rumour emanated from.”

Award-winning US-based Nigerian music producer jailed 90 years for raping his daughters *Fathered 6 children with them

The sins of Nigeria’s international award-winning music video producer Aswad Ayinde have finally caught up with him, culminating into 90 years in jail.
Last Friday, a New Jersey court in the United States once more lowered the hammer on disgraced Ayinde, who won an MTV award for directing The Fugees’ Killing Me Softly, after agreeing with prosecutors that he repeatedly raped his daughters to create a ‘pure’ bloodline that would survive Doomsday. Many of the rapes took place in an abandoned funeral home. He even delivered the babies himself in a bid to keep his depraved plot secret.
Ayinde, 55, fathered six children with his daughters from the mid-1980s until 2002. He also had nine children with his former wife, Beverly, and amother three with two other women in Brooklyn, according to court documents.
Reporting on his conviction, said:
As Aswad Ayinde’s daughter stood up to speak, the judge ordered him to put down the court papers he was hunched over and face the daughter he had assaulted and raped since she was 8 years old, fathering her four children.
“I can’t describe how much you hurt me and my sisters,” the daughter, now 35, said Friday to her father, shackled in a prison jumpsuit, his head still bowed, eyes never once meeting hers.
As the woman rehashed the horrors her father inflicted on her and her sisters in Paterson, Ayinde burst out, “You should’ve told the truth instead of lying,” bringing an admonishment from Superior Court Judge Raymond Reddin, who told him that not only did he believe the daughter’s testimony, but also so did the 12 jurors who convicted him.
Ultimately, the daughter said she forgave her father and hoped at some time he’d repent.
“But obviously, with your head down like that, you do not understand,” she said, three of her sisters fighting tears in the courtroom pews.

Sunday Mba Ranked 24th Best Player In The World By

Sunday mba have been awarded the 24th best player in 2013 ahead of the likes of Ibrahimovic, suarez, isco, mata and lampard. Hazard and Oscar didnt even make the list MESSI is the world best player this year more info at

A first-time entry for both player and country, Sunday Mba has been Nigeria’s revelation over the last year.

The midfielder’s inclusion, along with five other home-based players, in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations squad raised eyebrows but the 24-year-old played better than many of the nation’s more heralded foreign contingent.

Having started the tournament on the bench, Mba was Nigeria’s hero in the knockout stages. He scored the winner in the quarter-final against Cote d'Ivoire to spell the end for Didier Drogba’s trophyless 'golden generation'. Then in the final itself, Mba fired home the only goal against Burkina Faso to gift Nigeria their first Afcon title since 1994.

The 24-year-old was also one of Nigeria’s best performers at the Confederations Cup and has helped to draw attention to the depth of talent in the Nigerian league.

A drawn out transfer tussle between Warri Wolves - who own the player and his full transfer rights - and new club Enugu Rangers - where he will stay on loan until the end of the league season in September - mean he has played just a single domestic game, scoring one goal.

Christian Benitez Dies At 27 (Ex-Birmingham Striker)

Ecuador international Christian Benitez passed away on Monday age 27, his club El Jaish have confirmed.

The former Birmingham, Santos Laguna and Club America striker, nicknamed Chucho, who just completed a move to the Qatari outfit from Club America passed away before making his debut, though there are conflicting reports as to how he died.

El Jaish released a statement confirming the news. It said: 'The club would like to offer its sincere condolences to the family of the player.

'Benitez had recently joined the club from Club America for three seasons. The player participated for the first time with the team during yesterday's match against Qatar Sports Club in the Sheikh Jassem Cup without complaining of any health problems.

'His sudden departure is a big shock for each member of the technical and administrative staff. He was a player that over the short period he was here was regarded for his high moral character.'

Ecuadorian team-mate Antonio Valencia of Manchester United expressed his condolences having been informed of Benitez's death.

"You'll always be my brother. This pain is hard, my brother, but we love you," the winger, who also played alongside the 27-year-old at El Nacional, posted on Twitter.

Cleber Chala, another former team-mate of Benitez's at El Nacional, tweeted: "You will live in our hearts forever, Chucho."

The ex-Santos Laguna and Birmingham City forward appeared 58 times for Ecuador during his career, scoring 24 goals.

The Doha-based club are yet to confirm the cause of Benitez's death.

Igbo Traders Warned To Accept Yoruba Leader Or Leave Lagos

The traders of Igbo origin operating at the Ladpo Auto Spare Parts Market, Mushin, Lagos have been told to accept Yoruba man as leader or leave the state.

The ordeal was handed down to the protesting traders due to their continued resistance of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the Babaloja of the market.

Lamenting their ordeal, the royal father of the market Chief Nwosu told reporters that “99 percent of marketers in Ladipo are Igbo. To be fair to all, he should come and contest if elected he will be accepted. “We appeal to the South East governors, Igbo leaders across the globe to come to our aid. They asked us to go back to our villages, if we are not ready to accept the leadership of Alhaji Oki. We pay our taxes in Lagos and have every right as Nigerians to buy and sell anywhere in the state.”

Meanwhile LACEC Secretary General, Pastor Steve Ijioma told reporters : “There has been controversy over the imposition of Alhaji Oki as the Babaloja. This led to several clashes and it was agreed that Alhaji Oki should restrict his authority in his unit pending when the matter is sorted out. During the environmental sanitation, he encroached on our territory and we resisted. The protest is to pass the message across that we do not want his leadership rather a free and fair election should be conducted. It is a pity that an Area Commander could openly ask us to accept Babaloja or return to our various states.”

LACEC, according to the President General, Comrade Ikechukwu Animalu, is opposed to the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki because “out of the 34 existing units in the market, Alhaji Oki controls only a unit. There is still an on going battle over his appointment as the new Babaloja. It was his attempt to impose his authority on us that led to the crisis that erupted on Thursday. We demand a formal election, so that the people will decide who their leader will be.

“We also appeal to the police to be fair in this controversial matter and call to order those who openly ordered us to either accept the imposition or return to our various states.”

Stating his part of the story, Alhaji Oki said that he was ready to dialogue with aggrieved members of LACEC to find a way forward. He told Sun: “I was nominated two years ago to be installed the Babaloja of the market.

LACEC through several petitions frustrated that move and the process was delayed. However two months ago, the late Abibat Mogaji finally installed me. To pass their message across they did not attend my installation, which was held in June 27, 2013.”

Fashola Gives 22-yr-old Vulcaniser N100,000

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State recently rescued a 22-year old vulcanizer, Akin Abayomi, who was found stark unclad at Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Marina, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, around 12 midnight.

Abayomi was found unclad in the middle of the road when the governor was driving by with his convoy and thinking he was a mad man, Fashola ordered his security aides to pick him up for rehabilitation.

The man was taken to the State House, Marina where he was housed for the night before the governor sent for the Special Adviser on Youth and Social

Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru to rehabilitate him.

Abayomi confessed that he was not a mad man, but that he stri*ped himself in the middle of the night on the road because he wanted to curse the person who stole his cell phone and his money.

He said he visited a herbalist in his quest for revenge against the person who stole his cell phone and money and was instructed to carry out the act in order to curse his enemy, which was why he was unclad in the middle of the night.

According to Badru, the man said he was never mad and that he was an apprentice and that his phone and money were stolen by somebody.

“After I picked him up from the State House, he said he was not a mad man, but says he drinks and smokes marijuana and that he is an apprentice in a vulcanizing workshop.

He said he bought a phone and that somebody stole the phone.

After we investigated for two weeks to know his family, we realised that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an arm of the Holy Cross Cathedral, is also interested in rehabilitating him,” he explained.

Badru disclosed that the governor released N100,000 to Abayomi to start up his own vulcanizing business as well as bought him a phone and asked the church to monitor his progress.

He said the governor has really changed his life, saying that if Fashola had not picked him up, he would not have completed his apprenticeship training to become a successful vulcaniser.

West African to have a common currency by 2015?

Member States in the West Africa Monetary Zone are certain they will by the 1st of January 2015 have a new currency.

This means, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Nigeria and Sierra Leone and Liberia will have a common currency to enhance trade facilitation.

The countries have put on hold the move because many of them have not met the criteria. This criterion includes attaining single digit inflation, meeting a reserve of the Central Bank on imports of goods and services for duration not less than three months as well as a fiscal deficit of not more than three per cent of Gross Domestic Product, excluding grants.

Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Henry Kofi Wampah is optimistic all countries will met the criteria soon.

“The WAMZ member states had set 1st January 2015 for the launch of the common currency; I will therefore urge those of us in the WAMZ to continue to work tirelessly towards this important milestone,” Dr Wampah said.

According to him, during the Dakar 2000 meetings, it was agreed that macroeconomic convergence should precede monetary union, and further conditions were set for phases of monetary union in ECOWAS; providing governors with more compelling grounds to work harder at convergence.

He added that, “it is our responsibility to give meaning to these in order to help transform the ECOWAS region into a viable and productive economic and financial space that is truly competitive and able to withstand pressures in a fiercely competitive global economic system.”

UN Launches Global Outreach Campaign To Promote Gay Rights

Amid a surge of anti-gay violence and repression in several countries, the United Nations’ human rights office on Friday launched its first global outreach campaign to promote tolerance and greater equality for lesbians, gays, transgender people and bisexuals.

Called Free & Equal, it’s an unprecedented effort by the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights to change public attitudes around the world on issues that have bitterly divided the U.N.’s own member states.

The multi-pronged campaign — announced at a news conference in Cape Town, South Africa — will include videos and public-service announcements distributed through social media, a new website, a series of fact sheets, and engagement by celebrities well-known in different regions of the world.

“Changing attitudes is never easy… It begins with often difficult conversations,” said Navi Pillay, the high commissioner for human rights. “And that is what we want to do with this campaign. Free & Equal will inspire millions of conversations among people around the world and across the ideological spectrum.”

There were multiple reasons for choosing South Africa as the news conference venue. It is Pillay’s home country, and is a leading nation on a continent where discrimination and violence against LGBT people is widespread.

In Cameroon, for example, two men were sentenced to prison this week for gay sex, and a gay rights activist was tortured and killed earlier this month in an attack his friends suspect was related to his activism. South Africa, in contrast, does not criminalize homosexuality and allows same-sex marriage, yet is plagued by extensive anti-gay violence, including frequent rapes of lesbians.
However, the new awareness campaign will extend worldwide, reflecting the challenges faced by gays in many countries.

Ghana: Three children kept indoors for 8 years rescued

The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Madina- Accra, has rescued three children who were locked in-doors by their parents for up to eight years at Adenta.

All the three have been quarantined since birth and share their space with livestock.

Joy News' Beatrice Adu who visited the residence of the kids reports that the house looks beautiful and painted white with a garden on both sides of it.

But because it is unkempt, the place has been overgrown with weeds, she observed. The back of the house leading to the four-bedroom apartment has an animal farm filled with ducks, fowls, and sheep.

Entering the corridor leading to the room where the children were kept, one is greeted with a strong stench, a good sign of the poor conditions under which the children live.

The children’s room was an eyesore. Everyone coughs because of the foul smell there.

The children say they never bother asking to go to school because their father would spank them whenever they did. Even though they can express themselves in English, they cannot write. According to them they were taught how to speak the language by their parents.

For now, they are in a home provided by the Madina DOVVSU while investigations continue. Their parents have also been arrested, Madina DOVVSU Commander ASP Catherine Srofenyo told Joy News.

Meanwhile, the Madina DOVVSU is appealing to the public to help trace the family of the couple. The mother Jane Mensah Lartey is from Sempe in Accra, and the father Fledge Mensah Lartey is from James town also in Accra.

Manchester City win 2013 Barclays Asia Trophy

Manchester City won the Asia Trophy as Edin Dzeko’s spectacular strike earned a 1-0 victory over Premier League rivals Sunderland.
In dreadful pre-season conditions, the striker’s ninth minute, 20-yard volley settled the contest on an infamous, rain-soaked pitch at the Hong Kong Stadium.

City’s winning margin could have been more convincing but Dzeko, who also scored in the semi-final win over South China, did not match the magnificence of his volley when sending a second-half penalty high and wretchedly wide.

It may have been a friendly tournament but the victory ensured new City boss Manuel Pellegrini earned his first trophy since succeeding Roberto Mancini earlier this summer. It was not quite a trouble-free victory for City as key defender Matija Nastastic was stretchered off in the second half but they were the better side.

Dzeko opened the scoring early on, with Yaya Toure creating the opportunity with a flick-on.Also, Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick as Tottenham Hotspurs secured third place in the Asia Trophy in Hong Kong with a 6-0 win against South China.

Spurs came out on top by six goals, aided by other strikes from Clint Dempsey, Andros Townsend and an own goal from Sean Tse.

Grandma Wants Cosmetic Surgery To Make Her Look Older

Most of us hit our thirties and begin to fret about the onset of the signs of aging: the wrinkles, the greying hair, the cellulite, the saggy bottoms.

But grandmother Anne Bolton is already 47 and none of these predictable side effects have happened. And she really wishes they would.

The mother-of-four says she is constantly being mistaken for a woman half her age, and Anne, a market stall worker from Bristol, says looking like a 20-year-old is actually ruining her life - and now she's thinking about having cosmetic surgery to make herself look older.
Anne says that her youthful looks have ruined a marriage and two long-term relationships, as younger men constantly chat her up. She also believes jealous friends have abandoned her because she makes them look older.

Her eldest son, who has recently become a father, hates being seen with her after being mistaken for her boyfriend.

Now size eight Anne fears her youthful looks will mean a lifetime of loneliness because she only ever gets chatted up by toyboys she has nothing in common with.

Gwoza Operation Unsuccessful, But Shekau Sighted

Military sources have revealed that the highly specialised operation by the Joint Task Force (JTF) to hunt down the leader of the Boko Haram Islamic sect, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, believed to be holed up in Gwoza hills in Borno State was unsuccessful as a result of the difficult terrain.

The operation, which took place last month, however, claimed the life of Major A.T. Fambiya on June 26, 2013. Fambiya was one the two officers and 13 soldiers recently given national burial at the military cemetery in Abuja.

A military source told THISDAY that Fambiya was co-opted into the operation because of his knowledge of the area, having hailed from Gwoza town.

"However, like the Tora Bora mountainous caves in Afghanistan where Osama Bin Laden hid before he later escaped from the US onslaught; the operation to capture Shekau was not successful because of the bad terrain", the source said.

The source declined to give details, saying that would be exposing "high security issues," adding, however, that the area around Gwoza hills was dotted with lots of caves.

"I want to tell you that there is a massive deployment of troops in that area but we did not succeed because you know there are lots of caves. I just know that, as at this moment, I don't see him still being confined there".

However, another military source said Shekau might have been confined to a location where the military are in constant knowledge of his movement and that efforts are in top gear to capture him in spite of the failure of last month’s operation.

The source said the Boko Haram leader is being figured out by the military and that his days are numbered as they are ever determined to finish the job despite the difficult environment around him.

"Yes we can confirm that the goon is cornered and his days as a terrorist are certainly numbered. It’s not going to be easy though because Gwoza hill is a very long stretch of hilly terrain but the good thing is that the troops have an idea of exactly how to go about finishing the job," the source added.

The Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, while responding to THISDAY enquiries on the issue last night refused to talk on the matter but said reports of the JTF operations would be made available as and when due.

Olukolade warned journalists against reporting on operational issues that could jeopardise the military and security strategies, citing a report in one of the national dailies as an example.
He vowed that the military would pursue the terrorists with vigour until they are captured, killed or forced to surrender unconditionally according to the mandate of the emergency rule proclamation.

He said: "All I can say at the moment is that the mandate given to the security forces to hunt down all terrorists or insurgents is being pursued with all necessary vigour and sense of duty and responsibility.

"Every vital breakthrough recorded in the process will continue to be duly communicated to Nigerians as and when appropriate.

"There is no need to engage in speculation that could jeopardise the integrity of ongoing operations or mislead our citizens please."

The military had waved off claims by the Presidential Committee on Amnesty that it had reached ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram, and had instead vowed to crush the insurgents.

According to one of the military sources, "the main target now is to take out Shekau, and that is a matter of time now".

31 Migrants Drowned Off Libyan Coast, Nigerians Among Survivors

Thirty-one migrants, including nine women, drowned off the coast of Libya during an attempted crossing to Italy according to survivors who managed to complete the journey, Italian media reported Sunday.

A dinghy carrying 53 migrants capsized on Friday evening, and witnesses said 31 of those who had been thrown off it drowned in the accident.

The twenty-two survivors, who come from Nigeria, Gambia, Benin and Senegal, said the dinghy had capsized after three days at sea. They were rescued by a passing merchant ship and taken to Lampedusa island, the reports said.

As the number of boat immigrants attempting the crossing soars in the good weather, rescuers saved another 450 people trying to reach Italy on Friday and Saturday, increasing tensions at the already crowded refugee centre on the island.

Another 92 migrants — including 16 women — were rescued Sunday morning in the Strait of Sicily after their boat got into difficulty.

Since 1999, more than 200,000 people have arrived on Lampedusa — which is closer to North Africa than Italy — making it, along with the Greece-Turkey border, one of the biggest gateways for undocumented migrants and refugees into the European Union.

In nearby Malta, 112 migrants were saved from their drifting dinghy overnight Saturday in a 13-hour operation during which eight of those rescued were airlifted to hospital by helicopter for urgent medical attention.

That group — which included 20 women and four children — was suffering from exhaustion, dehydration and sun stroke, a Maltese army spokesman told AFP.

The latest arrivals bring the number of migrants to land on Malta in July to 880 — an all-time record for a month — while 1,200 people in total have landed on the island so far this year. — AFP

US Doctors Create Head For OkikiJesu Olawuyi Born Without A Skull

With much expectation, the world is waiting to see OkikiJesu Olawuyi grab a fitting place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Many across the world want to see this happen. And what that means is that a Nigerian child is well on her way to making history once she scales the mountain of surgeries standing in her path of life.

OkikiJesu Olawuyi was born without a skull but not without a will to live. Bones from her hands are being obtained to construct a skull bone to help her live. Amazingly, she is winning this battle for her life at John Hopkins University in far away United States of America. There, the best hands the world can assemble are with her every passing hour fighting a medical war to give life to a miracle child who has announced to the entire human community that she has something different to offer. First grade surgeons – irrespective of colour, race and tongue are tasking their expertise to see that this wonder of the 21st century lives to tell her story and reports say that they are doing a great job to save her.

OkikiJesu is getting moral and material support from across the world to help her live. An avalanche of support is coming her way. Her parents are carrying the burden of pain and anguish with stoic patience. They are fighting to remedy a medical case they cannot tell how it all started. The child needs a lot more financial assistance to pull through, her father, Mr. Caleb Olawuyi, says. He disclosed that she needed an additional $500,000 to undergo the final operation that would enable her live a normal life. Experts say that is possible and they can achieve that. While appealing for generous support from government, corporate organizations and private individuals to help the baby live, Mr. Olawuyi, has equally urged government to set up funds to assist babies afflicted with critical ailments. Speaking straight from the heart, he noted that one needed to be close to a child in pains to know how it feels.

Since news of the child’s medical condition was disclosed, the world has been aghast. She was born on May 11, 2010 with a rare birth deformity which means over 50 per cent of her skull doesn’t exist. The world has not seen anything of this stuff. In recorded history, Sunday Sun gathered that this medical condition has never been reported anywhere. The child’s condition is one that appears to have turned medicine on its head, having thrown up tremendous professional challenge to the human race. Now, the very best the world has known are fighting a crunchy battle to overcome this, leaving many – particularly those with hearts of stone- wondering if there is nothing they can offer to help.

Now from the home sector, help is coming for three-year-old Okiki and her parents. Since the condition of the baby became public knowledge, a non profit organization had stepped in to assist. Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care (GIPLC) has been doing all it can to give life to the child whose medical condition is not traceable to her parents. With the assistance of the organization’s Coordinator and Project Manager, Mr. Nuhu Kwajafa, the child and her parents were on May 4, 2013, flown to the United States. There, she is currently undergoing skull reconstruction surgery at the John Hopkins University Medical Centre.

Now, the child’s and her father’s cry for help comes ringing through the airways asking Nigerians to help her live. Here is a child the world is interested in. The non-profit organization is doing its best at that level to help her survive. Sunday Sun gathered that while the world was a short while away from screaming uhuru at the wonderful breakthrough, an unforeseen complication arose after over 14 hours of surgery. This followed inconsistencies in her medical history. Besides, her case marked a maiden attempt in paediatric neurosurgery. This, therefore, led to a further accumulation of medical bills totaling over US$500,000. This bill is spiraling every passing day OkikiJesu and her parents spend at the Johns Hopkins facility.

Specialists in the USA have identified the rare birth deformity which OkikiJesu is suffering, as Congenital Cranial Deficiency. Before now, she had been to several hospitals but not cured, but luck flashed on her pathway when GIPLC, which is based in Abuja took up her case. Sunday Sun learnt that since then, the organization has recorded significant success in efforts to get medical care for her. Within just a week, it raised about $234,000, an equivalent of N37 million through kind gestures from individuals and groups for her treatment at John Hopkins Hospital.

Chinese Toddler Dies After Parking Space Row

A Chinese toddler has died in a Beijing hospital after being wounded during a row between her mother and a man over a parking space, state media report.

They say the two-year-old girl suffered critical injuries on Tuesday when the man pulled her out of her pram and threw her to the ground.

He also reportedly beat the mother, who had refused to make way for his car, while she attended to her daughter.

The driver was arrested. He could face execution if he is tried for murder.

Police also detained a second man in the case, who was allegedly a passenger in the car and helped beat up the woman.

The toddler died on Thursday night after being kept alive on a respirator, Chinese state media said on Saturday.

The assault happened when a man, identified only by his surname Han, wanted to park his car by a bus stop in Beijing.

But the toddler's mother was standing in the parking spot and refused to move her pram.

The driver got out of his car and hit the woman before removing her daughter from the pram and throwing her forcefully to the ground, a witness said.

"The baby made no noises after being dropped, not even a cry of pain," the Beijing Times quoted the witness as saying.

Scammers Spent £85m Fraud Cash For Jets And Cars

Three conmen have been jailed after leaving thousands of people penniless as they splashed stolen money on cars, jets and yachts.

Richard Pope, Paul Gunter and Simon Odoni lived a life of luxury while defrauding at least 2,300 Britons, many of whom lost their entire life savings and one of whom was driven to suicide.

They were jailed at a court in Florida, where Gunter, 64, was sentenced to 25 years, Odoni, 56, to 13 years and four months, and Pope, 55, to four years and nine months.

Detective Inspector Kerrie Gower said: “Pope, Gunter and Odoni are amongst the most ruthless and destructive criminals the City of London Police have ever dealt with and deserve every day they will spend behind bars in America.

“Unfortunately this sentencing will not repair the huge damage they caused to the lives of thousands of people who were simply looking for a safe place to invest their money, but hopefully it will bring a measure of comfort and a sense of closure to those caught up in what was fraud committed on a truly massive scale.”

The £85m ($130m) scam, a so-called boiler room fraud where unsuspecting investors hand over cash for worthless shares, was one of the biggest of its kind ever uncovered in the UK.

Fuji star and president of Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), Abass Akande Obesere, also known as Omo Rapala remains the only one that has not followed the trends of marrying more than one wife in the Fuji industry unlike his colleague K1 De Ultimate.

Obesere as he’s fondly called attributed this to God but said, the fact that he has one wife today does not mean he may not marry another one tomorrow.

“It’s God that has done this and I know it is the way he wants it. I never vowed or went into a covenant with God that I would have only one wife so it has nothing to do with human wisdom but the grace of God. But I have not said that I will not marry another wife but I don’t have any plan like that; I have never given it a thought.”

And on how he cope with women; “I use wisdom to manage them. It’s not every time you give the flesh what it is asking for. You have to be careful as an artiste the way you handle women,” Said, the Ibadan born popular Fuji musician.
