Kenny Ogungbe And Tony Okoroji Fight In Public

The Nigerian Entertainment Conference held over the weekend at the Grand ball room of the Eko Hotel and suites, Victoria Island, Lagos was nearly marred by violent exchange of words between Kennis Music Boss Mr. Kenny Ogungbe and Chairman of Copyright Society of Nigeria COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji.Chief Tony Okoroji had confronted Kenny Ogungbe in the presence of journalists for daring to say in public that COSON owed him (Kenny Ogungbe) money.

Sunborn Yacht Hotel disappears from Lagos waters

The controversial N4.5 billion Sunborn Yacht Hotel, brought from England and moored on the Lagos waters for over four years (November 2008), has finally disappeared from the state after the controversies surrounding its ownership.
It will be recalled that the custom built yacht, with 102 elegant suites, arrived the Lagos waters in November 2008  and instantly became a cynosure of all eyes.
The yacht, expected to serve as a four_star hotel, was, however , bedeviled by controversies since its arrival which led to it abandonment and subsequent rusting away on the water-ways.
When Vanguard visited the quay, by the Army Officers’ Mess at Marina, Lagos Island Local Government Area, there was no sign that such expensive and eye catching structure ever berthed there.
                                         The Controversial Sunborn Yacht Hotel

Enquiries from the state government and even residents of the state yielded no result as no one could  say specifically what happened to the multi_purpose built yacht that moored on the state water for over four years.
Commissioner for Tourism, Mr. Oladisun Holloway, when asked to comment on the development denied the state government’s knowledge of the where about of the supposed ‘first African luxury hotel on water’.
According to Holloway; “As citizens of the state can’t find it, so is the state government also. The government can’t say precisely where the Yacht is berthed at present.”
The commissioner reiterated that “the state government doesn’t have any commitment in the yacht. And I don’t know why the residents of the state should be interested in whereabouts of the Sunborn yacht.
The four-star hotel, originally owned by the City of London, was conceptualised as a leisure and  business centre to service the higher echelon of Lagos society. Mr. John Smart, a boat operator, said he could not say accurately the whereabouts of the four_storey multi_purpose built yacht, since removal last month.
According to Smart; “I cannot say the date when it was removed but all we saw on one fateful day was a large number of people who crowded the Sunborn Yacht and towed it away with another ship.  They didn’t inform anyone where they will be taking the yacht to and since then we were yet to see it.”
So, the question on the lips of residents and concerned citizens which has remained unresolved is; “where is the Sunborn Yacht Hotel and who is behind the deal”. Time will tell.

Odemwingie named ‘twat of the year’ at West Brom official awards

Adrian Chiles has re-opened the row between Peter Odemwingie and West Bromwich Albion after ridiculing the controversial striker at the club’s official awards’ dinner last night.
The ITV Sport presenter was the host for the evening at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham in front of an 800-strong audience.
The 46-year-old, a diehard Baggies supporter, drew a mixed reaction from the assembled audience when he introduced a prize for the tweet of the year.
Odemwingie has made several outspoken comments during the season via social media on the back of an abortive attempt to secure a move to QPR in January.
Chiles said: ‘Our fourth award of the evening is ‘Tweet of the year.’
‘Oh, no, sorry, it’s ‘T**t of the year’ and the winner is Peter Odemwingie.’
The audience was split between laughter and embarrassment as the reality of what Chiles had said sunk home.
A club spokesman confirmed afterwards that the former One Show host had been given a script to follow and that he had veered from it.
Odemwingie has found it difficult to re-establish any rapport with the club’s fans following the incident as the transfer window closed in January.
Since then he has been fined for several outbursts on twitter and has struggled to re-capture a first-team spot.
He was not present to hear the offending remark. Sources close to Odemwingie suggested he was suffering from a common cold and had communicated his decision to stay at home.
However, feelings among the supporters continue to run high at the player’s perceived slight.
When the large screens showed individual player contributions to the Baggies’ season, Odemwingie’s name was greeted by significant booing from those present when a selection of video clips was run.
Ironically, with Marc-Antoine Fortune suspended for this weekend’s visit of Wigan Athletic to the Hawthorns, the forward may have been in line for a recall.
But Chiles’s comments have only served to highlight the schism between club and player and the former Nigeria forward, who still has one season left to run on his current contract, will need further reassurance to remain at the club following this embarrassment.

The bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. and has a total length of 1.358 km. The bridge is expected to decongest traffic in Lekki area and is a cynosure of all eyes because of its beauty.
According to Hamzat, Julius Berger has five years contract to maintain the bridge and could be renewed at the expiration of the term.
"In line with the policy of the present administration to ensure that all infrastructural facilities in the state are in conformity with the mega city status by the year 2015, the construction of Admiralty-Alexander (Lekki-Ikoyi) link bridge was conceived as a solution to the problem of the perennial traffic bottleneck on Lekki-Epe Road, particularly around the Elegushi Round About and Lekki Phase I.

GEJ Commissions 7 New Helicopters and 293 Security Vehicles For The Nigeria Police Force

Irked by the wave of terrorism and armed robbery attacks across the country, the Federal Government yesterday said it would soon procure helicopters for the 36 states police commands.
The government, which admitted that the times are tough, said it had, however, set up a Special Trust Fund to strengthen the aerial power of the police. President Goodluck Jonathan said this at the grand finale of the 2013 Police Week celebration in Abuja where he also launched seven new helicopters and 293 security vehicles for the force.
The Eagle Square and the entire Three Arms Zone was temporarily shut by eagle- eyed security operatives to forestall security breach. During the event, two police helicopters hovered round the Three Arms Zone even as most areas were restricted to human and vehicular traffic. Former Imo State Governor Ikedi Ohakim was kept waiting for six minutes outside the State Box by security operatives who stopped him from entering.
It took the intervention of a senior police officer for the security operatives to allow him enter. The National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), service chiefs and other dignitaries were already seated in the box awaiting the arrival of the President. President Jonathan, however, charged the police to emulate the military in developing an efficient maintenance culture for its facilities. He said that Nigerians still lagged behind in maintenance.
President Jonathan said: “As a nation, we are not too good at maintaining what we have but presently that aspect is changing.” The President frowned at a situation where armed robbers have been reported to hold a state hostage for several hours unchallenged, describing it as unacceptable. “This is quite a trying moment for this country in terms of security. We have challenges from the North to the South, East and West.

India celebrates 100 years of Bollywood

India celebrates 100 years of Bollywood

One hundred years after the screening of a black-and-white silent film, India's brash, song-and-dance-laden Bollywood film industry celebrates its centenary later this week.
The milestone will be marked with the release of "Bombay Talkies", made up of short commemorative films by four leading directors, while India will be honoured as "guest country" at next month's Cannes festival.
Exhibitions in the capital New Delhi are showcasing a century of cinema, including onscreen kissing scenes that originally fell foul of the censors.
It is also a time for reflection on how the industry has evolved, from its early screen adaptations of Hindu mythology to the garish romantic escapism of modern blockbusters.
Commercially, cinema is thriving: India produced almost 1,500 movies last year and the industry is expected to grow from $2 billion to $3.6 billion in the next five years, according to consultancy KPMG.
Leading the way is Hindi-language Bollywood, which took the "B" from its home in Bombay and won the hearts of movie-mad Indians.
But old-timers complain that it has become superficial, neglecting to deal with pressing social concerns of the age.
"There's a dumbing down that has taken place in the content. I think we are suffering from what is called the narrative crisis," said veteran director and producer Mahesh Bhatt.
He contrasts modern filmmakers with Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, known as the "father of Indian cinema", who brought the first all-Indian feature film to the silver screen in Bombay (now Mumbai) on May 3, 1913.

Back Then, Annie Will Sit Under The Tree, Crying And Asking Me If 2face Really Loved Her – Faze

In an interview with showtime weekly, Faze opened up about his relationship with Tuface and Blackface. He also spoke about moments when Annie Idibia wasn’t sure of Tuface’s love and she would sit under the tree and cry.
Enjoy the interview:
How do you feel today that 2face is a superstar as well as yourself, but Black Face is yet to hit the mark?
Black Face is also going to be big. Everybody seems to be supporting him financially, and it takes a lot for people to believe in you. Black Face wrote almost all the songs we had in our first album, so, he has potentials. He has management challenges and people that believe in him. We must be frank, we have some junk music in the industry but they sell because they have financial backups to pay for publicity and other things. These days, if you are bringing out an album, it has to be well packaged, it has to generate noise. I’m working on something with him to make sure he bounces back.
Since you know his problem, why didn’t you…?
He’s going to be big. Everybody has his time
But don’t you think it’s getting too late?
Nothing is too late. He just needs a single and I’m working with him on his album because he was involved in my career. I remember when I wanted to go for a singing competition. I was young and scared of the unexpected because there were so many ladies there that could sing well. I didn’t want to involve myself because I noticed judges were usually partial when it comes to ladies.
It was a live performance but Black Face encouraged me to go ahead. He accompanied me to the competition and I won at the end of the day. So, it’s the same spirit that I’m trying to give back to him. Whenever, we sit and write songs together, he writes in a different dimension. I think the only thing he needs to do is take his time and not to be in a hurry.
It appears you are more passionate about Black Face than 2face?

"I Lost Two Children In 4 Years And Nearly Quit Acting" - Lanre Hassan

Lanre Hassan, also known as Iya Awero, is a veteran actress in Nollywood. She can also best be described as a cross-over actress having acted both in the English and Yoruba movies of Nollywood.

In June 2013, she will roll out drums to celebrate her 50 years on stage. Not too many veterans have achieved that feat.
While telling her pain in a recent interview with First Weekly Magazine, the talented screen mother disclosed how she lost two children in four years which almost ruined her acting career.

"The only thing that shook me happened in 1974, when I lost a child, while acting on stage. He (the child) was with his paternal grandmother, he was seven or eight years and they came to call me that he died that night, I had to rush down to our home town.
"I lost a second child, when Ojo Ladipo (Baba Mero) died. The two of us were at the burial, I woke up, but my baby did not wake up. It really discouraged me, but I summoned courage that I had been doing the work for long; I won't allow all these to stop me.

"I believe what has happened has happened and that God would take care of other things and take care of the rest. It actually shook me to the extent that I almost quit acting," she narrated.

Keshi Ranked 5th Best Coach In Africa, 27th In The World

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has moved one step on world coaches ranking for the national teams for the month of April. Keshi is rated the 27th best national coach in the world and the fifth best in Africa despite his triumphant run at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Keshi, who has coached in Togo and Mali, finally made an impact with the Super Eagles when he won the Nations Cup, became the second African to win the trophy as captain and a coach after Egypt’s Mahmoud El Gohary, but all that failed to give Keshi a quantum leap on the world rankings.

Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque is the world’s best coach. While Joachim Lowe of Germany, Bert van Marwijk of Holland, Oscar Taberez of Uruguay, US-born Egyptian coach, Bob Bradley, Reinaldo Rueda Ecuador, Fabio Capello Russia, Morten Olsen Denmark Claudio Cesare Prandelli Italy and Venezuela’s César Farías make the world top ten coaches.

Curse her or lampoon her, Kaffy, the dance queen is not moved, neither is she going to deny it that, she was once encouraged into prostitution by her mother.
