Nelson Mandela Hospitalized Over Lung Infection!

Former South African President Nelson Mandela been re-admitted to hospital with a recurring lung infection.
Mr Mandela was admitted just before midnight a statement from the South African presidency said.
The 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader is being treated for a "recurrence of his lung infection" and doctors are ensuring he has the best possible treatment, the statement said.
South African President Jacob Zuma wished Mr Mandela a speedy recovery and appealed for prayers.
"We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family and to keep them in their thoughts. We have full confidence in the medical team and know that they will do everything possible to ensure recovery," he said.
The former president is often fondly referred to by his clan name, Madiba.
Mandela has been admitted to hospital several times since last year, most recently earlier this month when he received what a presidential spokesman described as a "successful" medical test.
"Doctors are attending to him, ensuring that he has the best possible expert medical treatment and comfort," the Zuma statement said. It appealed "for understanding and privacy in order to allow space to the doctors to do their work".
Late last year Mr Mandela spent three weeks in hospital being treated for a lung infection and gallstones.

Pornography case: Covenant University was right to expel student – Court

Pornography case: Covenant University was right to expel student – Court

The law suit filed by 20-year-old Longji Felix Vwamhi, a 400 level student of Information and Communication Technology Department of Covenant University against the institution, has been struck out by Justice Mobolaji Ojo of an Ogun High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun state on Wednesday. Vwamhi had challenged the institution over his expulsion for being in possession of pornographic materials in his laptop.
The case was dismissed for lack of merit.
It would be recalled that Vwamhi was on November 27, 2012 expelled from the institution following the outcome of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the university which found him guilty of being in possession of pornographic materials and indecent dressing.
The Covenant University, its Vice Chancellor and Chancellor were the first, second and third defendants, respectively while Felix’s mother, Mrs
Indo Felix Vwamhi of Block House 13 Mbora Estate, Abuja was a co-plaintiff in the suit.
While delivering his judgment, Justice Ojo found out that the student had indeed violated the university regulations as contained in chapter 4, section 35 of its student’s hand book which prohibits public display or possession of pornographic films or photograph.
He noted that the student also admitted being in possession of the laptop containing the pornographic materials and sharing same laptop with friends in the school.
He affirmed that the panel set up by the university to try the student did not violate section 36 of the 1999 constitution as amended and the principles of “Audi Alterem Partem and Nemo Judex in Causa Sua” . That one cannot be a judge in his own course.”

NET SPECIAL: All you need to know about 2face and Annie’s Dubai wedding

Nigerian Entertainment Today front cover     In what can be described as the biggest wedding of the year, superstar musician, 2face Idibia and his long-time baby mama, Annie were officially joined together in holy matrimony in a white wedding which held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Dubai, capital of the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
Following the trail of the couple’s traditional wedding held weeks ago, which had attracted quite a star-studded turnout, the Dubai wedding attracted a much more massive presence of A-list celebrities who travelled all the way to be part of the historic event.
From the nights partying in the deserts leading up to the D-day, it was more than a memorable weekend not just for the happy couple but for everyone that attended. We wish them a blissful one!
The nights before
The city of Dubai welcomed and witnessed top Nigerian celebrities for several nights; 2face, Annie and their visitors partied all day and night in the Persian Gulf, attending clubs, going dirt bike riding, belly dancing, shopping and of course swimming.
The wedding planning
The wedding ceremony and reception was planned by OAKEN EVENTS LIMITED. Miss Buchi Nduka served as the ‘Logistics and Hospitality’ coordinator and Obechi Anuge as the ‘Events Prestige’ director.
The Wedding Invitation
The invitation package (a package containing a black invite card with white and red lettering, a small access tag and a travel guide) was designed by Karman Invitationers, a Lagos-based crafts company that specializes in items like this. A rep for the company tells us that each IV costs about N9000 and that 200 copies were made. That means the couple doled out about N1.8m for the souvenir. NET gathered that the IVs took about two to three months to be prepared and finished.
The Venue
The grand wedding was held at the beach side at the famous 5-Star Jumeirah Beach Resort in Dubai. Guests were advised to leave their shoes behind and ‘bury their toes in the sand’.

We’re still waiting for Alamieyeseigha in UK – Envoy

We’re still waiting for Alamieyeseigha in UK – Envoy      The United Kingdom has said that it has not given up on its efforts to extradite former Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, back to Britain to face trial.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Pocock, told Daily Sun in an exclusive interview that the former governor who recently got state pardon from his criminal conviction in Nigeria still has an outstanding case of money laundering to answer to in the UK and that the UK government will not give up until Alamieyeseigha is brought to justice.
Alamieyeseigha, then a serving governor, made a dramatic escape from the custody of the British authorities when he fled back to Nigeria from detention in September 2005. He would later be convicted on similar money laundering charges on July 26, 2007 in Nigeria after he was impeached as governor.
Although his recent state pardon by President Goodluck Jonathan hit the UK authorities as a rude shock, Pocock dismissed insinuations that London was planning to sanction Nigeria over the matter. According to him, “that is not the way we do things”.
The High Commissioner also revealed that UK had earlier requested for Alamieyeseigha’s extradition, but did not get any response.

Kanye West

Kanye West is a deity of sorts in the rap game, but not quite the creator of the universe.

Mr. West has drawn a parallel between himself and Jesus' dad before, though. In 2005, he released the single "Jesus Walks," which openly embraces his faith, and also recreated the prophet's crucifixion on the Jan. 2006 cover of Rolling Stone.

40 Abuja Towns Kill Twins!    It is 98 years ago that Mary Slessor, the Scottish missionary to Nigeria, died. She was reputed to have led crusades that stopped some societies from killing twin babies at birth. Such births were taboo and not tolerated.

While her history remains alive, as her remains were interred in Nigeria, it seems some communities in Nigeria, even today, are out to rubbish and undo what Slessor did.

It might shock you to hear that there is still a community that still sees twins or multiple birth as abomination. But it is more confounding to find that the communities are in the nation’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT). How awful that even within the world’s newest city, with all the trappings of modernity, the preponderance of religions and inclinations that abhor killing of human beings, twin kids are still sacrificed to the gods of tradition that don’t want them alive like the biblical story of the notions that passed their babies through the fire of Molech.

AYC: Egypt Dethrone Nigeria     The hope of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles defending their African Youth Championship (AYC) title was ended by an organised Egyptian Under-20 team in Ain Temouchent, Algeria on Tuesday.
The Junior Pharaohs of Egypt defeated the Flying Eagles 2-0 with ENPPI forward, Mahmoud Abdel-Moneam Kahraba scoring both goals.
The defending champions started with a lot of buzz, but their flurry of activities counted for nothing.
Inside the first 10 minutes, Abduljeleel Ajagun’s shot in Egypt’s goal area was kept away by the quick response of Mossad Awad.
Supersport reports that there was little to cheer about the opening half though Ovbokha Agboyi had to make a brave clearance off the line to save Nigeria from going a goal down.
Two minutes into the second half, Nigeria were unable to clear their line as Omar Bassam flicked a free kick into the path of an unmarked Kahraba, to stamp the ball away.
Within a minute, Bassam was played through on goal but he could only chip the ball awkwardly over onrushing Nigeria goalkeeper, Jonah Usman to gather at a second catch.
Nigeria came close to levelling the score when Olarenwaju Kayode shook off his marker but instead only saw his side-footed effort blocked out by Awad in the 52nd minute.
Egypt then scored their second goal with 10 minutes left from just three attempts on goal.
The Flying Eagles showed their weakness of defending set-pieces as Kahraba, once again unmarked this time at the far post, to nod home Ahmed Samir’s free kick.
Substitute Bright Ejike then had two chances to score for Nigeria in the last six minutes of the game.
He first broke free in a one-on-one situation with Awad but failed to convert as the Egypt keeper cleared the ball off his feet and then in stoppage, Ejike lamely struck inside the box at Awad who gathered the ball with ease.
Nigeria will now play in the losers’ final at the Stade Ahmed Zabana in Oran on Friday.

Kardashian Sisters Blast Ford Advert Showing Them Bound And Tied In A Car   The Kardashian sisters have been the subject of much spoof material.
But the latest offending item is not one Kourtney, Kim and Khloe are taking lightly.
The reality star siblings have confirmed they will be taking legal action after an image from an advertising agency working on Ford’s Figo car showed them bound and tied in the trunk of a vehicle.
In a statement obtained by omg! INSIDER from their family attorney regarding the controversial Ford Motor Company advertisement, they said: ‘The “leave your worries behind” Ford ads are disgusting, vile and offensive to all women.
It is unacceptable that Ford would align itself with an ad agency that would so carelessly release these ads. The Kardashians do not take this lightly and they are exploring all of their legal options.’
Posters for the compact sedan were uploaded to the internet featuring notable personalities, including reality TV starlet Paris Hilton and disgraced Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi, smiling with glee at seeing their rivals, bound, gagged and stuffed in the car's trunk.

The images were supposed to advertise the sedan's spacious cargo area but Ford has since issued an apology and chastised the outside ad agency who publicized the artwork.
The drawings were developed by a young creative team at JWT India, an advertising firm owned by the WPP Group.
They were uploaded to the AdsOfTheWorld website without agency or client authorization, a spokesperson for JWT told the MailOnline.

NCC Begins Number Portability     Amid poor service quality that has continued to bedevil the telecoms sector, the federal government has backed the initiative of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to commence number porting across the GSM networks today.

The Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, told THISDAY that Mobile Number Portability (MNP) would give subscribers the choice to select networks that offer best telecoms services, insisting that Nigerians have to embrace it, since it was the best option in a bad situation.

“We are going ahead with MNP because it will increase competition in the industry. It, however, does not stop the service quality issue because we have a nationwide service quality issue, which cuts across networks. We are doing a lot of other things to improve telecoms service, by creating an enabling environment for network operators to rollout infrastructure, and reduce bottlenecks on right of ways, wilful destruction of telecoms facilities, among other measures,” Johnson said.

GEJ Should Be Impeached - LA Times Joel Brinkley

Just outside President Goodluck Jonathan's office sat 17 ambulances, just in case he or one of his aides fell ill. They were seldom if ever used.

No actual health-care facility nationwide had as many, and in fact a few still have none at all. But as soon as a Nigerian newspaper took a photo of the ambulances and published a story about them, they suddenly disappeared -- probably to an underground garage.

Jonathan is president of Nigeria, which should be among the world's most prosperous nations. After all, it produces an estimated 2.4 million barrels of oil each and every day. With oil now selling at $93.61 a barrel, that's $224 million in income daily. And yet many hospitals can't afford to buy an ambulance. The reason, in my view: Nigeria is the most corrupt nation on earth.

Sure, Transparency International lists almost three dozen states as more corrupt -- Chad, Haiti, Laos, Yemen, Cambodia and the like. But are any of those nations as wealthy as Nigeria -- taking in $81 billion annually, just from the sale of oil? No, not even one of them. So Nigeria steals and squanders more money than any other nation, making it the world's most corrupt, by that measure.

Nigerian journalist Musikilu Mojeed finds all this so discouraging.

Wizkid May Return To Former Music Label, EME   If everything goes according to plan, Wizkid will soon be returning to his former music label, EME Music Group, this is according to a reliable industry source. The source revealed to me exclusively that Wizkid and EME bosseshave been going back and forth for the last couple of weeks through their lawyers trying to agree on new terms of them working together again.

"Wizkid leaving EME was just his way of pushing the bosses at the label to take him seriously and increase his earning percentage. When he joined EME he wasn't a star but then he became a mega star and was making a lot of money for the label and they still didn't increase his earning percentage so he took a walk. Now they are working on a new contract that will favour Wizkid." The source said I hear in the new contract being drafted, EME will not take a dime from Wizkid's international deals. When they start working together again, remember you read it here first! :-)
