“Sex is an act of worship, that is why people shout ‘Oh my God!’” – Femi Fani-Kayode

There are fewer public figures as controversial as Femi Fani-Kayode. The lawyer and former Minister of Aviation, airs his perspective on anything and everything, dividing opinions in the process.
In a post on Twitter, he wrote this concerning sex: “Sex is powerful. It is an act of worship. That is why people shout things like “oh my God” when they are at the height of orgasmic pleasure.”

Just recently, he waded into the Oscar Pistorius case, blaming his late girlfriend for the tragedy.
He said at the time: “Whatever the the truth may be, all I can say is that this is a great tragedy and we need to be careful about the kind of women that we spend our time with. Any woman that stirs up your anger and constantly provokes your wrath ought to be avoided like a plague. It is those that bring peace and tranquility into our lives that we should cherish.
I have little doubt that Pistorius, who was a great achiever, a living icon, the greatest and best known African sportsman in world history and an absolute gentleman, was provoked into a murderous rage by his pretty little lover and that she played on his insecurities and inadequacies. These are the classic traits of the biblical “strange woman”- the destroyer of men’s dreams and destinies.
Only God knows who sent this creature from the sea into this great man’s life just to destroy it. For Pistorius it is all over. In one moment of blind rage he has lost everything and he has brought shame, disgrace, sorrow and infamy upon his name and that of his family. The blood he has shed will speak against him and his lineage forever. And all because of a sexy and pretty little model who the devil sent his way.
May the Lord deliver us all from the daughters of Jezebel, Delilah, Athalia and Yemoja.”

“Ordinarily, when you open the bag, you will not see the drug.
“We found two brown parcels of drugs weighing 1.295kg.”
According to Ilechukwu, he was lured into the drug deal by a friend he met in Thailand.
In his words: “I am a business man. I relocated to Thailand last year where I buy goods and send to Nigeria.
“It was in Thailand that I met a man who introduced me into drug business. He gave my number to his partner in Lagos who lodged me in a hotel.
“They made me to contribute N750,000 as my contribution and promised me a handsome reward on arrival in Thailand.

Bill On Allowance For Unemployed Graduates Rejected

THE House of Representatives Wednesday rejected a bill, which sought to make provisions for monetary incentives for unemployed graduates in the country.

The proposed legislation, titled: “A Bill for an Act to amend the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Act, Cap. N28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, by creating specific functions and objectives for the Directorate to specifically cater for unemployed graduates of tertiary institutions,” failed to scale second reading when it was put to vote by the Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has also endorsed a bill seeking to overhaul the Consumer Protection Council.

The bill, sponsored by Daniel Reyeneiju (PDP, Delta State), seeks to amend the Consumer Protection Council Act to modify its composition; widen the scope of its functions and powers so as to provide for a broader and more effective Council.

Sponsor of the bill, Arua Arunsi, had, during his submission on the floor, said the objective of the bill was to design implementation programmes to combat mass unemployment of graduates that are between the ages of 18 to 35 years and also between third to fifth year of post-graduation experience.

According to him, the bill also seeks to pay certain amount of allowances to the unemployed graduates in Nigeria.

My Show Is Fake? - Omotola Ekeinde

The actress who started her reality show on December 6th 2012, is not pleased with the responses she is getting from her viewers and fans and took to twitter to address the issue. What are your thoughts on her reality show? Do you think it is fake as some say or you think the actress is just been herself.

Read her reason why she started a reality show when you continue
I chose to do this show because I have been rightly advised that it might be the next step in African entertainment for everyone of us. It is a new concept in this part of the world and would be a good avenue to sell our values and push the envelope for the artistes on the continent. The show will focus on my experiences as a person; with and without make-up. In and outside my house, my daily life is fun and hectic. My life is crazy. It is a reality show for all ages that is full of unusual twists and turns.’

Although the reality show has been birthed, Omotola shared her early scepticism at filming her private life due to her boring lifestyle when she is not on the red-carpet or doing something work-related. However, she was convinced by the Producer, Michael DJaba, Chief Creative Officer, iFactory Live, London, UK.

‘I’m actually worried that my life is becoming boring. It looked very interesting whenever I stepped out there on the red carpet, but the truth of the matter is that I don’t even go out. When I am done with my work, I go home. My life is very boring, but the producers say that is what they want. They want to showcase how exactly it has been that boring. They want people to see how boring my life is. So, it is a gamble. I am just taking a chance. But I can opt out of the show anytime I want. I think that is the beauty of it. I signed a contract that if it is getting unbearable for me and my family, I can opt out of it if I want to.’ Omotola revealed.

Man Teaches Two-legged Pig To Walk

A pig which was born with just its two front legs has become an unlikely celebrity in Henan Province, China.

The 10-month-old animal, known by villagers as Zhu Jianqiang, which means Strong-Willed Pig, was born with only two front legs, which it now uses to walk on.

According to owner Wang Xihai, Zhu Jianqiang was one of nine piglets born in a litter this January.

He recalls: 'My wife asked me to dump it but I refused as it's a life. I thought I should give it a chance and unexpectedly it survived healthily.'

Several days after Zhu's birth Wang decided to train the two-legged female piglet to walk by lifting it up by its tail. 'I trained her a while each day. After 30 days she could agilely walk upside down.'

Wang said his home has been besieged by visitors since the birth of the pig, which currently weighs 110lbs. A circus even offered a high price for the pig, but he refused to sell.

'She proved to us that no matter what form life is it should continue to live on,' he said. 'I won't sell her no matter how much the offer is.'

Frankly, they look like a reasonably ordinary pair of white trainers. But try telling that to Beyonce – or animal rights campaigners.

For these shoes, commissioned by the singer, are made from no fewer than five different animal skins: stingray, anaconda, ostrich, crocodile and calf.
Fans and animal welfare groups alike condemned Beyonce, 31, as ‘cruel’ and ‘spoilt’ for having the trainers made.
A spokesman for animal charity PETA said: ‘These custom-made kicks come with a high price – and it’s paid by the various animals who were beaten and skinned alive or cruelly farmed and killed.’
He added: ‘We hope that one day she’ll go completely cruelty-free.’

Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid, described the trainers as ‘a brazen publicity stunt’. ‘The less that is said about it the better,’ he added.
The cream colour shoes are a take on the wedge-style trainer, made popular by designer Isabel Marant, but given a so-called Eden makeover by PMK using a hybrid of land and sea skins.
Called The King-Bey, the shoes, which have been given Beyonce's approval, are decorated with gold accents. The price is as yet undisclosed, but a regular pair sells in excess of £230 ($350) so this embellished pair would sell for far more.

Rafael Benitez: Chelsea interim manager angrily confirms exit

Rafael Benitez has said he will leave Chelsea in May and described the decision to give him the title "interim manager" as a "massive mistake".

After beating Middlesbrough 2-0 in the FA Cup fifth round, the Spaniard also criticised some of the club's fans.
He told BBC Radio 5 live: "Chelsea gave me the title of interim manager, which is a massive mistake. I'm the manager.
"The fans are not helping us. At the end of the season I will leave. They don't have to worry about me."
Benitez's defiant post-match interview came after the former Liverpool manager was once again targeted by a section of his club's supporters.
Asked a question about the importance of the FA Cup, Benitez responded with an outspoken rant in which he said:
  • He would leave the club in the summer;
  • The "interim" title was a "massive mistake";
  • He was only given the title so the club could "wash our hands" of him if he failed;
  • Supporters were "wasting their time" in protesting against him;
  • Fans' actions could cost the club a top-four place;
  • The only reason supporters are unhappy with him is because of his Liverpool background.

Flash: Arik, AIT, Channels, Newswatch, Other Alleged Beneficiaries Of Ex-Gov Odili’s Looted N100 Billion Keep Silent

All the parties involved or mentioned in the N100 billion allegedly stolen from the treasury of Rivers State by former governor, Peter Odili, has declined to comment on the alleged scam when contacted.
Last Sunday, Sahara Reporters published that it has obtained draft charges that were never presented in court and prepared by activist lawyer, Festus Keyamo, for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, during the tenure of Farida Waziri as the commission’ chairman.
The charges showed how Mr. Odili, using 24 other prominent government officials, media owners, and businessmen, carried out the widespread plundering of the state’s treasury.
Mr. Keyamo, who still represents the EFCC in several other corruption cases, did not deny that the charges existed or whether he did prepare them for the commission. He, however, declined to comment.
“I have no comment about it. You can find out from Lamorde (EFCC Chairman),” said Mr. Keyamo in a telephone chat.
Just like Mr. Keyamo, the EFCC was also non-committal on the charges, neither confirming nor denying its authenticity.
The commission’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he cannot comment on the charge as the said charge was written during the tenure of Mrs. Waziri, immediate past chairman of the commission. When pressed for more details, Mr. Uwujaren referred us to Mr. Keyamo.
Arik, largest recipient keeps mum
The document shows that between January 2004 and December 2006, the Arik Air boss, Arumemi-Ikhide, received over N60 billion from the River State’s account, making the airline boss the largest beneficiary of the fraudulent sum.

Most Stolen iPhones Are In Africa

Ever since cell phone carriers created a national registry of stolen phones on Nov. 1, it’s become much harder, if not impossible, to reactivate one in the U.S. That’s the good news. Here’s the bad: The database isn’t likely to rob thieves of the desire to steal your phone.

All major U.S. cell phone companies, including Verizon (VZ), AT&T (T), T-Mobile, and Sprint (S), are now sharing the serial numbers of stolen phones through the registry. Like VIN numbers on cars, these unique IDs are branded onto the hardware of the device and are hard to tamper with. If a thief tries to pop out a SIM card and use a phone purchased from one U.S. company to sign up for service with another, the serial number will automatically show up as belonging to a stolen phone.Courtesy ecoATM

But wireless providers in other countries aren’t part of the registry. And savvy iPhone thieves have realized that the way to get around it is by selling smartphones overseas, according to Washington, D.C., Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

Secondhand dealers buy used phones for cash, then pool and sell them to middlemen who resell them to retailers in Africa or China, says Lanier, who led the effort to establish the U.S. registry. A stolen phone can go for $400 abroad, she says. “That completely voids the blacklist we worked a year and half to put in place,” Lanier told me. “The new entrepreneurs … have created new challenges for us.”
Lanier has recently begun to point fingers at companies she says are facilitating the black market. One is the large video-game retailer, Gamestop, in Grapevine, Tex., which buys used smartphones. “We’ve found stolen phones in their possession,” Lanier said on Feb. 19 on a D.C. local news program, NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt. Lanier said on the show that Gamestop has started to provide Washington police with serial numbers of the used phones it buys and is considering ending the practice of paying cash for phones. “We are working with police,” Gamestop spokeswoman Wendy Dominguez writes in an e-mail.
The Federal Communications Commission is in the early stages of an effort to crack down on the black market overseas. The agency recently signed a data-sharing agreement with Mexico; wireless companies in Mexico and the U.S. are now sharing serial numbers of stolen phones. The FCC is looking to sign more agreements with other countries, says FCC spokesman Neil Grace. Hopefully that will happen soon. It might be the only way to stop some guy on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, from listening to your playlists, checking out your vacation pictures, or worse–stealing your identity.

Three Power Sub-stations Installed In Lagos

The Federal Government, Wednesday, gave a boost to power supply in the country with the acquisition and installation of three units of 15 MVA (Megavolt Ampere) injection sub-stations in Lagos.

Speaking during the commissioning of the three new 15 MVA sub-stations and switch gears panel in Yaba, Orile-Coker and Kirikiri sub-stations in Lagos, Mr. James Olotu, Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, NDPHC, promoters of the National Independent Power projects, NIPP, said the project is part of the Federal Government’s transformation agenda, which places emphasis on improved power generation and supply among others.

Olotu said there are currently about 491 power projects across the country, while about 40 of the projects have been completed.
He however added that all the others yet to be completed have reached advanced stages of completion and would be completed before the end of the year.

He disclosed that the Federal Government set a target of June this year for the completion of all distribution projects, while all transmission projects and about 99 per cent of all generation projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

He said the federal government is set to begin an inspection of all the projects site across the country by March this year and warned that it might sanction contractors found to be delaying in the delivery of their project.

He said, “In March this year, the Vice President has announced he is sending outa crack team of project monitoring group to visit all the projects sites, so that actions can be taken on the spot if we find that the contractors are not meeting up with target given to them.

“While doing this, we are aware that it is also important that the delivery should be known to be actually effective and qualitative, not delivery that is fast and then as we move back and go away after commissioning, they say something has broken down. That is fraud. We want the contractors to deliver quality work.

“But the time for delay is over. No more delay again on this project. Every contractor has no excuse on why they should not deliver on their project.”

On the issue of supply of gas to the power stations, Olotu said all stakeholders in the power sector are working together to ensure that the challenges facing steady power supply, especially availability of gas, is dealt with.

Also speaking, Mr. Oladele Amoda, Chief Operating Officer, Eko Electricity Distribution Company said with the addition of the new 15 MVA 33KVA/11 KVA sub-stations each at New Yaba, Orile-Coker and Kirkiri sub-stations, the total capacity at Yaba has improved to 45 MVA, Orile-Coker has improved to 30 MVA 11 KVA while Kirikiri hasrisen to 30 MVA 33KVA.

He said the installation of the sub-stations and switchgears will help minimize load shedding and tackle the issue of epileptic power supply.

He said the new equipments are strategic, especially as they cater for the need of strategic areas of the state, areas.

He disclosed that the benefiting communities have started feeling the impact of the projects in terms of improved power supply.

You Must Get A Degree"- Davido's Father Insists

They say the biggest legacy a parent can leave for his-her children is education.

Every parent no matter the circumstances strives hard to live up to that statement and so is Nigerian billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke who seems hell bent on seeing one of his sons David ‘Davido’ Adeleke attending and graduating from University like every other child.

The last two years have been a handful for Davido – he didn’t just make a very successful debut in the Nigerian music scene but accelerated to the A-list spot, something that has taken other A-listers years to achieve. He’s released a debut album with chart topping singles, won international awards and performed in and out of the country, what else could he ask for?

Well, Davido isn’t doing the asking, his father is; more like demanding. NET sources say Mr Adeleke wants his son to enrol in a University and graduate with a degree.

And to make that happen, he has reportedly built an entire department at Babcock University (where he is currently a provost) for Creative Arts which will have Davido and his manager Kamal as the only students for now.

We’re told he has also bought a dedicated car which take the boys to and from school as they work to combine academic commitments with show business.

Davido and Kamal (who had to go back to school because of Davido’s father’s insistence) are using the opportunity to bond, a source tells us.

It is also likely his celebrity cousins Bayo ‘B.Red’ and Sina ‘Sinarambo’ Adeleke will be joining them soon.

‘Davido’s dad believes a lot in his music and HKN. He thinks David can take it to the next level but he also feels education is compulsory foundation for his son’, a source to the family tells us.

We learn he has been helping to put up necessary structures that’ll ensure the boys don’t mess things up. For starters, Mr Adeleke insists on meeting with everyone working with his son.

And the young pop star has so far been co-operative.

Davido’s mother Vera, an educationist herself was until her death in 2003, a lecturer at Babcock University.

Church Set Ablaze In Ilorin

The Prayer, Faith and Miracle Ministry, a church located at Asa Dam area in Ilorin, capital of the central Nigerian state of Krawa was on Tuesday burnt down by yet to be identified persons.
The church which is also known as Ori-Oke Majemu Agbara was said to have been set ablaze todaywhen none of the church members or security guard was around.
The suspected arsonists also burnt musical instruments, and public address system kept in the church but spared the bible and portraits of Jesus Christ which they removed to the frontage of the church.
They also reportedly carted away about 400 plastic chairs being used by the congregation and clerics of the church during
Pastor in charge of the church, Paul Adekeye, said the building had been badly burnt before they got wind of the development and invited the fire fighters to douse the flame.
He said the part-time security guard they employed to watch over the church did not come for duty when the incident occurred on the excuse that his wife was indisposed.
Adekeye said they had no quarrel over the land save about five years ago when a man from Baboko area of the town who claimed to be the estate agent in charge of it asserted that the land was not meant for church building.
He said the man had since aroundthat time stopped coming to disturb them when he was disowned by the owner of the land who sold it to the church. The pastor, who said they could not yet suspect anybody as the perpetrator of the arson, disclosed that the church has reported the matter to the police and the Department of State Security Service and that
they had come to inspect it and promised to carry out full investigation on it.
Adekeye, who said property destroyed in the arson was worthmillions of Naira, urged the state government to come to the aide of the church in reconstructing the building.

Kidnappers' Training School Uncovered In Delta

…as Uduaghan insists on not signing death penalty law
Asaba”DELTA State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, weekend, explained why he would not sign into law, the Bill passed by the state House of Assembly, prescribing death penalty for kidnappers, describing the Bill as a duplication of efforts.

He also said that a school for training of kidnappers had been uncovered in the state.

Speaking at Unity Hall at Government House, Asaba,  on questions posed to him at a town hall meeting during the visit of the Good Governance tour team, led by Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, to the state, he said:  œAs a state government, we have been dealing with kidnapping. Presently, we have been able to identify some hot spots in the state, what are called the red spots, where kidnappers are trained. We have identified those areas.

We are strategising on security for those areas and that is why, in the last few weeks, you could see that the incidence of kidnapping has gone down. There are other strategies we are still working on to deal with kidnapping, which I cannot disclose here.

Another question is, why are we having issues with death penalty for kidnappers? There is already a death penalty in our laws. Every kidnapper is an armed robber, I believe, so I don't know why we are talking today of death penalty for kidnappers. When you go to court, the case is usually kidnapping/armed robbery. Why do I have to sign another law for kidnappers?

Once you are a kidnapper, you are also an armed robber. The law is already there to sentence kidnappers to death. And I must say that in this state, in the last few months, our judges have been bold enough to convict many kidnappers. They are working hard to sentence more kidnappers.

Protest As Obaigbena Fixes American Anthem Before Nigeria’s At THISDAY Awards

The guests at the event refused for the American anthem to be sung before the Nigerian anthem.
There was a mild drama on Tuesday at the 18th Annual Thisday Awards held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as guests at the ceremony kicked against singing the American National Anthem before the Nigerian anthem.
Guests were already seated whenthe award organiser, Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of Thisday Newspapers ; and the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun; ushered in Bill Clinton , former American President. After that, the Master of Ceremony announced that the American Anthem will be sung followed by the Nigerian anthem.
In swift response to the announcement, there was a spontaneous, and overwhelming resistance from the guests, who vehemently kicked against the arrangement, insisting that such arrangement was insulting to Nigeria and her citizens.
The guests, many who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES after the event, argued that in Nigeria, the country’s anthem should be sungfirst and that in America, one should expect the Americans anthem to take priority. They demanded a reversal of the arrangement.
A change was effected. The Nigeria national anthem was sung, followed by Ogun State anthem while the American anthem was eventually dropped.
The ceremony was in celebration of Nigeria’s best teachers and fifteen teachers were honoured at the event. It was organised by Mr. Obaigbena’s Thisday Newspapers and held in the OgunState capital.
