Wife Of Donald Trump Junior Files For Divorce

(Reuters) - The wife of Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has filed for divorce in New York, according to court records.

Vanessa Trump, a former model and actress, and Trump Jr. said in a joint statement on Thursday: "After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways."

The statement was provided by the Trump Organization, the president's business empire, which his son helps manage.


Further details were not immediately available on the uncontested divorce filing by Vanessa Trump in a New York state court. She and Trump Jr. have "enormous respect" for each other, according to the joint statement, which also asked for privacy.

Prison Officers Secretly Move Charles Okah To Borno Prisons After Life Sentence

Charles Okah, the brother of the leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), who was given a life sentence for terrorism, has been secretly moved from Kuje Prisons, Abuja, to one of the prison facilities in Borno State, THISDAY has learnt.

Worried about his seeming familiarity with the prison environment and the officers at the Kuje Prisons, the authorities of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) last Tuesday transferred him quietly.

EFCC Charges Bellview, First Nation Airlines With N1.7bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday arraigned Bellview and First Nation airlines with an alleged fraud of N1.7bn.

Joined as the first defendant in the charge was the Managing Director of First Nation Airlines, Mr. Kayode Odukoya.

The airlines and Odukoya were arraigned on four counts before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Ikeja Special Offences Court.
The charges border on forgery, use of forged documents, perjury and stealing.

U.S. Military Helicopter Crashes In Iraq On Thursday, Killing 7 People On Board

One of the U.S. military helicopter in Iraq has crashed after hitting a power line in Iraq's western Anbar province, killing all seven personnel aboard.

According to a statement from Pentagon this morning, the officials said the crash of the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter occurred Thursday afternoon near the town of Qaim.

"All personnel aboard were killed in the crash," Brig. Gen. Jonathan P. Braga, director of operations, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, said in a statement.

"This tragedy reminds us of the risks our men and women face every day in service of our nations," he said. "We are thinking of the loved ones of these service members today."

Former South African President Jacob Zuma To Face Corruption Charges

South Africa's former President, Jacob Zuma, is to face prosecution for 16 charges of corruption, Chief Prosecutor Shaun Abrahams has confirmed.

Mr Abrahams said he believed there were "reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution".

The charges - which Mr Zuma denies - include counts of fraud, racketeering and money laundering.

Mr Zuma, 75, was forced to resign as president last month by his party, the ruling African National Congress (ANC).

He was facing his ninth no-confidence vote in parliament before he left office.

Paul Manafort could face the rest of his life -- and almost 300 years or more -- in prison, a federal judge said Tuesday.

"Given the nature of the charges against the defendant and the apparent weight of the evidence against him, defendant faces the very real possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison," federal judge T.S. Ellis III of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia wrote Tuesday.

Ellis last week placed Manafort under home incarceration while wearing a GPS monitor and set a $10 million unsecured bail.

Manafort, 68, has been under similar home arrest and bail conditions for a separate case in Washington, DC, federal court that was filed in late October.

Britain Expels 23 Russian Diplomats Over Chemical Attack On Ex-Spy

Britain expels 23 Russian diplomats in response to a nerve agent attack on a Russian former double agent in southern England, Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday, adding it was the biggest single expulsion in over 30 years.

May told parliament Britain would also freeze Russian state assets wherever there was evidence of a threat and downgrade its attendance at the soccer World Cup this summer.

Former spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, were found unconscious on a bench in the city of Salisbury on March 4 and remain in hospital in a critical condition.

NYSC Withdraws Corps Members From Volatile Areas

Due to the recent unrests in some of local government areas of Kaduna state and the need to protect lives and property of members of National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ), the scheme said today that, it has suspended posting Corps members to such areas.

This is also as the scheme said, it had withdrawn all corps members serving in Kajuru local government area of the state following the recent crisis at Kasuwan Magani area of the local government.

26-Year Old Rapes 72-Year Old Grandma, Then Strangles Her

A 26-year-old man raped a frail 72-year-old woman before smothering her with a pillow in her bungalow, a court heard. Craig Keogh is accused of raping and then murdering Jane Hings during a drink and drug-fuelled attack in the early hours of September 24 last year.

Keogh, who occasionally walked Mrs Hings’ dogs, denies murder, rape and burglary. Birmingham Crown Court heard that Mrs Hings was found dead in her bed at her bungalow in Fleckney, Staffordshire. Prosecutor Mary Prior said Keogh, now 27, had been on a night out in Oadby before getting a taxi home, walking to Mrs Hings’ home in Elizabeth Road, and breaking in.

Mrs Prior said that as well as twice raping Mrs Hings and killing her, Keogh stole her wedding and engagement rings from her fingers, along with her purse, handbag, cash and other items. She said: ‘Craig Keogh went into Jane Hings’ house while she was in bed.

Fresh Trial Of Alleged Kidnapper, Evans Begins

A fresh trial of alleged billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, began on Wednesday before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offence Court in Lagos.

Mr. Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, and Victor Aduba, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.

The prosecution’s first witness, Idowu Haruna, while being led in evidence by Titilayo Shitta-Bey, narrated how his team caught Evans and how he led them through his mode of operation.

“I’ve worked in the Inspector General of Police’ Intelligence Response Team for the past five years now,” Mr. Haruna, a police Inspector, began.

Fire Outbreak At Olusosun Dump Site In Ojota, Lagos Destroys 10 Cars, 4 Trucks

At least ten Lagos State LAGBUS vehicles, four refuse evacuation trucks and millions of naira worth of goods stored in warehouses have been totally destroyed following a sudden outbreak of fire at the Olusosun dump site in Ojota, Lagos.

The fire which started at about 4pm on Wednesday evening was allegedly caused by a flare on the dumpsite which quickly spiralled out of control.

Court Jails Babatunde Habeeb, Estate Agent 1,230 Years

Lagos – Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere Thursday sentenced an Estate agent Babatunde Habeeb also known as Babatunde Salawudeen, who duped 101, prospective tenants of N28million, at 59 Oriola, in Alapere Ketu area of Lagos, to 1230 years imprisonment.

Justice Ipaye found Habeeb guilty of the 82 counts charge of conspiring with his brother Alahaji Ishola Salawudeen who is still at large and obtained the sum of N28million, under false pretence from unsuspecting accommodation seekers.

AFDB Gives Nigeria $300m To Tackle Youth Unemployment

The Federal Government on Thursday said the African Development Bank has approved a $300m loan to contribute to job creation, food security and nutrition, rural income generation and improved livelihood for youths in both urban and rural areas in the country.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said this in Abuja at a round-table on tackling youth unemployment in Nigeria.

The event was organised by the Bureau of Public Service reform in collaboration with the Department for International Development.

The SGF at the event also constituted an Inter-ministerial task team to address the youth unemployment challenges in the country.

He said members of the team would be drawn from the Office of the Head of Service, ministry of labour, ministry of finance, Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the National Directorate of Employment.
