Buhari Ordered AGF Malami To Meet With Me, Ensure My Reinstatement – Maina

The embattled former chairman of the Presidential Pension Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, on Tuesday said his reinstatement started with a meeting with the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a video aired by Channels TV on Monday, Mr. Maina, wanted for alleged corruption, explained how the current administration held meetings with him and returned him to the civil service.

His secret reinstatement, exposed in October by PREMIUM TIMES, outraged Nigerians and raised questions about the Buhari administration’s seriousness about tackling corruption.

Lagos Government To Transform Oworonshoki Waterfront

The Lagos State Government has outlined plans to transform the blighted area of Oworonshoki waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism, and entertainment centres in Nigeria.

The project will improve the aesthetic and security of the Oworonshoki environs, while attracting investments in water transportation and boosting socio- economic activities in the axis, with the provision of shopping mall and related infrastructures.

The proposed entertainment and mega ferry terminal site already under reclamation would divert alot of human and vehicular traffic gridlocks away from the Lagos Island and take advantage of the central location and accessibility of the proposed Oworonshoki terminal to Apapa port, Ikeja Airport and other parts of the state.

Fresh Charges Filed Against Evans

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly called Evans, got down from the Black Maria, this time at an Igbosere High Court, with cuffs in his hands. It is barely a week after his trial at the Ikeja High Court was adjourned.

He walked with his face down into the court.

Evans is familiar with the environment because he was there few weeks ago but for a different trial.

The court room again is full and security personnel are everywhere, as the man also called billionaire kidnapper steps into the trial room to face Justice A.A Akintoye.

'Listing us a State sponsor of terrorism is a serious provocation' - North Korea warns US

Pyongyang has denounced the decision by the United States to relist North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, with a foreign ministry spokesman warning it was a "serious provocation."

In a report published on North Korean state media KCNA, the spokesman said his country had nothing to do with terrorism, saying the relisting was an "absurdity. This is a serious provocation and a violent infringement upon our dignified country," the spokesman said.

The Trump administration announced on Monday that North Korea would again be included on the list of states which sponsor terrorism, adding the US Treasury Department would be initiating further sanctions on the already isolated nation.

Former President George W. Bush removed North Korea from the list in 2008.

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt, have recovered more corpses and skulls from the den of a formermilitantleader, General Don Wanni, in Aligwu community, Omoku, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State. The decomposed bodies and skulls were recovered, in the early hours of Wednesday, after the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major-General Enobong Udoh, led men of the Division to comb the forest where the notorious kidnap kingpin used as shrine and graveyard.

Robert Mugabe will attend Emmerson Mnangagwa's inauguration today

According to state broadcaster ZBC TV, Robert Mugabe is expected at today's inauguration of the new Zimbabwean president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Already, preparations are under way at the National Sports Stadium in the capital Harare where the event is to be held.

The outgoing head of state is expected to inspect the parade to say goodbye while the incoming head of state will introduce himself to the parade.

Janet, 51, and record producer Jermaine, 45, dated for seven years until their split in 2009. 
Another insider said: 'Janet is single. She is good friends with Jermaine. They share a very close and beautiful bond. He's been there for her and she loves that about him. Anything can happen in the future but right now she has a lot on her plate.'
The source added: 'She is doing great and feeling great on her tour. Her baby is by her side as much as she can allow it. She has people helping her out. She looks great and is always so grateful to everyone that helps her and works with her. She is very pleased how everything is going on tour.'

Ezenachukwu Okwudili, IPOB 'New Leader': "Nnamdi Kanu Fled To London"

The new acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Ezenachukwu Okwudili, on Tuesday disclosed the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu.

Okwudili claimed that the fugitive ex-leader of the pro-Biafra group fled to London using his British passport.

In a broadcast on Radio Biafra, Okwudili said, “Those who benefited from inciting young Igbo youth to violence and death, the time of reckoning has come.”

Facebook Launches Nigeria Initiative To Drive Innovation, Growth

Social media platform, Facebook, has launched a new nationwide initiative in Nigeria, to further cement its commitment and investment in the country, and across the continent.

Facebook, which has 1.37 billion daily active users, announced this in Lagos, yesterday, saying the plan Incorporates a series of high profile partnerships, training programmes and a physical space that will serve as a centre for learning and skills development.

It stressed that this set of initiatives is aimed at helping to develop and nurture communities, including small businesses, the tech and start-up ecosystem, youths and creatives.

Facebook Public Policy Director, Africa, Ebele Okobi, informed that in Nigeria, more than 22 million people use Facebook every month, and that 87 per cent of SMEs claimed that when they hire, digital skills are more important than where an applicant went to school.

Apple Sells Gaming Robots Built By Nigerian

Apple Stores in the United States and United Kingdom have begun the sale of gaming robots, MekaMons, built by a Nigerian-British, Silas Adekunle.

Adekunle’s company, Reach Robotics struck the deal with Apple recently.

The product with a price tag of $299.95 went on sale from 16 November in the shops and online. The robots can be operated with an iPhone and other smartphones.

Reach Robotics, an augmented reality gaming company creates robots for both fun and STEM education.

Adekunle, who was born in Nigeria moved to the UK when he was 11 years old.

He is an engineer who graduated with First Class Honours from the University of the West of England in Bristol, with a Bachelor of Science in robotics technology. He previously worked at GE Aviation and Infineon.

Emmerson Mnangagwa To Be Sworn In As Zimbabwe President On Friday

Zimbabwe is entering a new era of democracy, incoming leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has said in his first public remarks since his return to the country.

The 75-year-old, whose sacking as vice president earlier in November triggered a military takeover, flew back to Zimbabwe on Wednesday, a day after longtime President Robert Mugabe stepped down.

Mnangagwa fled to South Africa after his dismissal, citing threats to his life.

He will be sworn in as president on Friday.

Frank Edoho Anchors 'The Price Is Right', A TV Game Show

After 13 years of hosting popular TV show, Who Wants To Be A Million, Nigerian broadcaster Frank Edoho announced via a tweet that he'll no longer anchor the show.

Musiliu Obanikoro Officially Defects To APC

A Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will be officially defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


The politician confirmed this to Channels Television, noting that he would be declaring his defection in Lagos at the weekend.
While he is still yet to clearly state reasons for his defection, reports say Mr Obanikoro has been seen recently at gatherings of APC chieftains.

Italy Apologizes To Nigerian Government For Hurriedly Burying 26 Girls

The Italian Embassy in Nigeria has apologized to the Federal Government, over the burial of 26 girls who died on the Mediterranean Sea.

This was confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

“The Italian Embassy has apologised for the mix up for dates in the burial of the victims of the Mediterranean tragedy. NAPTIP and other agencies will continue to work with Italy and others to stem the tide of irregular migration,” she wrote in a tweet.

Lagos Starts Total Evacuation Of Tankers On Apapa-oshodi Expressway

The Lagos state government has started evacuating articulated vehicles parked along the Apapa-Oshodi expressway.

Olawale Musa, the general manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said the step is a bid to ensure safety and a free flow of traffic on the route.

Musa said the government began clearing the tankers off Apapa-Mile 2 axis on Wednesday.

According to him, no responsible government would fold its arms and allow lawlessness and impunity to reign.

He added that the administration of Akinwunmi Ambode, the state governor, is up to its responsibilities and would not shy away from attending to the plight of the people.

Lagos Removes Oba Ogunji Statue, Dismantles Roundabout For Agege Flyover Bridge

The Lagos state government yesterday removed the popular statue of late Olu of Agege kingdom, Oba Ogunji to pave the way for Agege Pencinema flyover bridge.

It was learned that the statute removal was done by the men ofLagos state public works commission.

It would be recalled that Lagos state government has promised to complete the precast/prestressed dual carriage bridge before December 2018.
